FRIDAY CLUB - 2018 UPDATE!!
February 4, 2018
February, 2018
Dear parents, carers and young people,
Thank you all for your patience with Friday Club, we are sorry that January was a club-less month!
As you all know SPEADA Youth Charity is not government funded and we rely solely on grant funding, donations and fundraising.
Unfortunately, we have not been successful in our grant applications for the club this year, so funding is extremely tight!
With this in mind we have had to make some changes to the way we run the Friday Club. The main change being that the club will no longer run every Friday evening, term time.
The Friday Club will now run once a month throughout the whole year. This will continue to be at Providence Street Community Centre, still at the same times of 6.00pm-8.00pm and will still be just £2.00 per person, per club night. (see dates on the calendar)
This was not an easy decision and please believe us when we say we fought tooth and nail to try and avoid this change. But with little funding available and no option of reducing rent with Freebridge (we tried!), we felt that this was the only option for the time being, without cancelling the clubs altogether.
We are still applying for funding and will continue raising money to try and fill the gaps on a Friday night!
Though the Friday Club will now only be once a month, we are going to be organising some social activities out and about for the club users to try and fill the void. This may even turn out to be more favourable in the long run! Who knows…
Again, the amount of activities we organise will of course depend on funding! However, there are lots of local, social venues who are VERY charitable and keen to help us out!
So far, we have arranged 3 social trips for the Friday Club to STRIKES bowling alley in Kings Lynn (free of charge) throughout this year. (see calendar of dates attached) – we will be updating the calendar as soon as other events are confirmed and can be added.
We are gutted that we have had to call this decision but we hope that you all understand.
Thank you so much for everyone’s support and we are hopeful this year will soon cheer up!
Carly, Lewis & the SPEADA team!
